Lighting Case Study - Hugo Boss

Hugo Boss Store FrontThe design and fitting of attractive energy efficient lighting solution for retail stores is one of the core specialisms of Chancery Contracts. In the spring of 2014 we were contracted to design and fit out the lighting for a new Hugo Boss store that was due to open in June at the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet retail park in Ellesmere Port.

The lighting design had be attractive and inviting - something that would show off the menswear at its best. The light also had to be comfortable, not something that was so starkly bright that the visitor to the shop would feel overhwelmed.

Crucially, the light also had to be energy efficient to minimise running costs on the designer outlet retail park - where an economical price point is very important. The shop is laid out over 200M2, a reasonably substantial space and enough for lighting to generate a significant ongoing electric bill.

The solution we designed was based around the latest LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting technology. Using this type of lighting significantly reduces the associated running costs. LED lights also have a longer operational life and compare very well with other light sources in terms of the range of colour temperature (Kelvin) that can be covered - typically 3000K to 6000K.

Once we agreed the design with the customer, fitting of the lighting took place in early May, in good time for rest of the shop to be fitted out with display units to be ready for the planned shop opening in June.

The project was completed on time and within budget and looks highly effective - we think you will agree.
